Framing Tips from SCOTT ROBINSON designs

I have many of my paintings hanging in my home. I want to share with you some tips on getting my prints framed. I have a very unique painting style and these tips will help you get the most beautiful results.

• Use a professional framer.

This is their profession. Get the experts to help you. I have found their knowledge to be priceless.

• Use plain glass opposed to glare-free glass.
This may sound strange, but when my framer tried to get me to use the glare-free glass, he placed the two glass types on top of my painting, the glare-free glass was so dull and life-less. It just does not compliment my painting style. It washes it out. I do not mind the plain glass. I want the painting to pop and be noticed. If you want that same affect, I would suggest using the plain glass.

• Use double mats around the print.
Some of my paintings are small. However, when you see them on my wall they are huge due to the fact that I always use double mats. I have also been known to use triple mats. This gives the painting more dimension and weight. Also you can pull in complimentary colors to help enhance the painting.

• Use a frame with a wide border.
Another tip to help you create a huge focal point with a print is to buy a frame with a wide border. At least 2-3 inches wide. This will increase the size of the painting and make it appear larger.

• Use the proper hardware to hang the painting.
Believe me, I have learned the hard way to make sure I have the painting hanging on a stud in the wall. Also make sure that the wires, nails, and hooks are the appropriate size for the painting. If there is not a stud in the wall, make sure you use a wall anchor to secure the painting.

I hope this information is useful. Until next time, God Bless!
